WILL YOU JOIN US?

January 3 - 7 2007

We are flippin amped about the very first soul survivor festival, and if you have the privilege of actually being there this January, you are going to have to work pretty hard not to have a good time.

Mike Pilivachi and Ali McGuiness from the UK will be joining us speaking and getting up to general mischief, as well as Darryl Gardiner the national director of YFC, and a whole pile of brilliant speakers in the seminar and workshop streams. There will of course be rockin worship led by some of NZ's finest.

But we are really excited about some of the stuff planned outside the main meetings. Some really engaging seminar streams, about Justice, Youth Work, some specific gender streams (Soul Sista and Soul Brotha), some lite streams looking at art and sports etc, some general "Whats this whole deal about?" type seminars. There will be sports in the afternoon, a cafe, a recourse area, a place for youth workers to chill out and chew the fat with others doing the same work, a skate park right next to the grounds, late night movies, bands, art space, prayer space, and probably a more "famous" band to rock out the final night. Can anyone say PARTY?

CAMPING

Everyone at the event will be camping in villages of 50 people, from the area that they are from, with a village host to look after them. We want there to be a real sense of community in all that we do during the week, and the "villages" will be your home away from home.

LET'S DO IT

However what we are MOST excited about is the friday afternoon event; going into fielding or palmerston north, and spending a few hours doing some practical serving work. We don’t want to just talk about it, but bless the surrounding area as a whole bunch of young people come to worship, but not just in song! We want this activity to spur on some discussion. We are called to serve the world around us, and to encourage each other to think creatively about how we can practically demonstrate the love of Jesus in their communities, and around the world.

SET FREE TO SERVE

The theme of the event is "Set free to Serve". It is about us becoming more like Jesus; more whole, with greater perspective, to find healing, and to be equipped. But its not just about us stopping there, its about serving the world around us, so that we ARE good news, but also the mystery is that we discover Jesus in that place, we become more like Him! And the cycle continues...
